uCMDB Data connectors - connect to external mysql database

Hello,

We are having trouble establishing connection between uCMDB 8.02 and an external mysql database using Federated CMDB - GenericDBAdapter.

The adapter-form is filled in as follows:
host: servername
port: 3306
user: username
password: password
url: jdbc:mysql://servername/dbname

The error we get is:
General error in data store.
See the attachment for more detailed error.

Any clues?

Re: uCMDB Data connectors - connect to external mysql database

As I understood, the problem is in the URL part.
it should be like:
dbtype=mysql;dbname=

Please check with the end-user documentation what should be the actual value...
It's not the JDBC URL...

We have been searching through the manuals but haven't found any thing of interest related to this matter, you don't happen to know where we could find this information?

Yes, the documentation is some what lacking but Alex is correct.
FCMDB will construct the URL based on your entries.

Re: uCMDB Data connectors - connect to external mysql database

Do you know the format the URL is supposed to be in?

Also I'm wondering, we have an MySQL db in version 5.0.5 if I remember correctly but the uCMDB is using mysql-connector-java-3.1.6-bin.jar, do you suppose this is too old connector?

Re: uCMDB Data connectors - connect to external mysql database

Hi David,

MySQL v5 is supported and was tested in QA labs.
Hence you shouldn't worry about it.

I believe that in GDBAdapter guide (pdf file) that comes with 8.02 & 8.03, the usage of adapter is described a bit better than in earlier versions...

UCMDB\j2f\appserver\webapps\site.war\amdocs\eng\pdf - or something like that (don't have an instance in front of me to write the full path)
