snmp protocol error in ucmdb discovery

Hi,

I tried to use snmp protocol in bac8.0, "error: java.lang.Exception: Could not perform snmp connection to 192.168.10.141:161" ocurred when checking authentication.

I checked probeMgr-patternsDebug.log, but only the following message was found:
<2009-11-03 17:21:48,578> [DEBUG] [Thread-49] - trying to connect to ip=192.168.10.141 by 'snmp' protocol ...
<2009-11-03 17:21:48,703> [DEBUG] [Thread-49] - connection to ip=192.168.10.141 by 'snmp' protocol failed

the result of netstat command is:
UDP 0.0.0.0:161 *:*

is that means than port 161 was used by another process?

Thanks for any help.

Re: snmp protocol error in ucmdb discovery

First, I'd suggest to use
netstat -anb
instead, as it shows you the exact process using the port.

Second, it also may happen due to wrong credentials.

Re: snmp protocol error in ucmdb discovery

hi Alexander,

I used -anb option and found that the exact process using the port is snmp.exe.
this seems no problem.

secondly, the password ought not to be wrong.

thanks for your reply.

for some unaccountable reason,it seems working fine now.
(maybe the internal LAN was down when i performed the authentication check.)

i'll colse the thread.
