multiple CI in Queries

is it possible to include multiple individual CItypes in 1 tql without any relatioship. customer wants to reduce the number of TQL used. so they want to group CI s of same type  in 1 tql to use in custom reports and integration , for example apache , apache tomcat in a tql called say webservers..  thanks forum engineers.

Re: multiple CI in Queries

Hi Steve ,

I believe it is possible untill you plan to introduce a hierarchy among them then group is not possible otherwise it should be ok from Count perspective.

Hope this Helps

Re: multiple CI in Queries

If you want to include hierarchy, look into using cardinality, see the second example.

There are a few ways to clean up your TQLs for Webservers, the outline below is meant for everyone who may not have an understanding of hierarchy and reports so it will include some basic instructions.

For your Webservers TQL, you can use the parent CI Type, Webservers related to a node

You can use hierarchy or group by CI Type

This report will group by the CI Type

If you use hiearchy and place the Webserver under the Node like so:

The report is organized by nodes

You can also be more specific and may include other CI Types other than Webservers.

In the TQL you can have a a node related to an Apache and also related to an Apache Tomcat

On the cardinality for the node use 1, * for Apache OR 1,* for Apache Tomcat

Change the hierarchy so the webservers are under the node.

This report will be organized by nodes that have Apache or Apache Tomcat
