SSH public keys with passphrase

Hi,

We are going to use pubic keys as the credentials mechansim for SSH.

We have succesfully tried it with a key pair that not have a passphrase, but if we configure a passphrase as an extended security the ssh login fails.

Anyone with experience about this topic !

Re: SSH public keys with passphrase

If you have a passphase, there has to be a human to enter it.

Otherwise, you need an agent to remember the passphrase once typed in.

putty has an agent and that agent gets transferred to Linux, where all sessions created can use it.

You can also use ssh-agent(1) and ssh-add(1).
