Force discovered device names to uppercase

Is there a way to make the UCMDB force device names and server host names to uppercase when they are discovered or rediscovered?

Re: Force discovered device names to uppercase

I suppose you need to change this in discovery pattern rules. Modify the package script to return the name field in upper case.

I can be mistaken, but I will assume that Enrichment rule also can help.

Re: Force discovered device names to uppercase

Very simple solution, Go the CIType manager choose the attribute "Name" or "Display Label" and select the UpperCase. It will make sure that newly created device has a uppercase.

For the devices which are already discovered you need to make use of enrichment which is one time job.

@NagendraPaladi
Thanks for your input. I'm not to enrichment rules, so I'm not quite sure how to create such an enrichment rule. Could you possibly provide some more insight please?

Thank you!

Re: Force discovered device names to uppercase

I do think that you need to do it a bit differently.
Adding "Uppercase" wouldn't give to much of a relief.
So, you need to do the following:
* Export the CIT definition to the file system (XML)
* Modify it by adding DDM_AUTOUPPERCASE qualifier on the attribute you need
* Import it back to the UCMDB

It will enforce the data to be automatically uppercased when it is sent from discovery to UCMDB.
