Storage Essential - SMI Providers

Hi,

I will install into my SAN, storage essential software and i would like to know how to integrate it with SMI-S provider.
I know the SMI-S provider are directly integrated into Command View for XP. I would like to konw if can i install SMI-S agent on dedicated server (maybe virtual one)?

Thanks.
Fabrizio

Re: Storage Essential - SMI Providers

Fabrizio,

You have no choice but to install the SMI-S agent on the CommandView server only. I assume you are trying to install SMI-S on dedicated server which will redirect the SE/SIM queries to CV server but that's not possible. That's the reason SMI-S agents are build into CV.

Re: Storage Essential - SMI Providers

OK. Thanks.

So, Storage Essentials need to connect to CV to manage XP Storage?
And what about SMI-A agent for brocade switch?
To see correctly all my SAN (Storage and Switch), do i need both?

Re: Storage Essential - SMI Providers

Hi,
yes there is a special SMI-S provider for SAN switches only which is independent and can run on any host to offload the SE management console from communication with all the SAN switches...
the pain is one part of the reality

Hi,

I would like to know if SMI-A and SMI-S are free and they does not need any license?
