(SOM) Support Tip: How to configure Storage Operations Manager to send email notifications
Hello SOM Community,
There was a knowledge article written recently to explain how to use a feature that was not really documented within SOM. This article discusses how to configure SOM to send email notifications at error conditions and specific intervals.
This article describes how to use the SOM CLI command somemailconfiguration.ovpl to configure notifications.
The user can choose to schedule to get an email with the status report of SOM. This interval can be configured in the properties file.
The report email will contain the following information:
Data collection failures: The email will contain a zip file which internally will contain the elements and time stamp of their data collection failure.
Stale element: The email will contain an attachment which will state the elements which are stale.
Invalid or empty observer schedules: The email will contain an attachment which will contain the information of invalid observer schedules.
CSV failures: The email will contain an attachment with the CSV failure information.
The pre-defined triggers for email delivery will be:
At data collection failure: In case of a data collection failure, the user will get an email at the configured email id. The email will contain the details of the element for which the data collection has failed.
At CSV export failure: In case the export to CSV fails. The email will contain the details of the element for which the csv export failed.
Please note that SOM currently supports only one set of SMTP configurations.
This feature will be better documented within future releases.
I hope that this information is helpful.
Good Luck within your SOM environments!
