service desk 5 and active directory integration

During the implementation of helpdesk module, my customer expressed the specific need to integrate with Active Directory in the sense of authentication. Meaning that it would no longer be needed to enter username/password when using service desk. This was not available in service desk 4.5 but is now available in service desk version 5 only with the full Java client.

How is it possible to achieve the same on the service pages part of service desk? Meaning that a user who wants to log a call from service pages would not need to enter his username/password once he is authenticated in Active directory.
If you can't solve it, post it :)

Re: service desk 5 and active directory integration

I have the same requirement. I entered an enhancement request for HP to support this and they rejected it. I think they are focusing on SM7 now and don't plan to enhance 5.x any further. Maybe 7 will have this feature.

The only other way is to authenticate the user using custom programming and then passing the login name parameters to service desk to get the persons data.
