sd_dataform.bat problems on terminal server

Hi all.

We are still struggling with sd_dataform.bat in a multiuser environment.

Can anyone confirm that it actually works on a terminal server? That any given terminal server user is actually able to fire up a new form via sd_dataform.bat?

Thanks,
Michael

Re: sd_dataform.bat problems on terminal server

Thanks Vasily.

Our problem is actually that the first user is able to open a new form via sd_dataform.bat. However when a second user logs into the server, starts HPOV SD, and fires sd_dataform.bat, the form opens in the first users session!

Oh, and it's Client 2008.

We have now tested this on 3 different Win 2003 servers, and it acts likes this on all of them.

hm, how are you run sd_dataform? by action or by external software? what the execution folder?

Re: sd_dataform.bat problems on terminal server

I start it by action, however problem is there even when starting from command line manually. When I go to %SD_CLIENT2008HOME%\bin\ and manually run sd_dataform.bat -ForceNew "Notification", where Notification is the form I want to open, it acts like I have described above.

Re: sd_dataform.bat problems on terminal server

very strange problem, but cl2008 does not save any to working folder, they use chache folder as old client, did you check the chache folder? is it separate for users? what the sp are you used?

second, the same dataform opens with data from first session when first user a still in session or disconected?

Yes, the cache folder is separate for every user, it's in their roaming profile directory.

We have SP27 installed.

Scenario 1:
When second user starts sd_dataform.bat, and first user already has HPOV SD up, it opens a new form in first users session.

Scenario 2:
When second user starts sd_dataform.bat, and first user has NOT HPOV SD up, it instead opens the login dialog box for HPOV SD in first users session.

Now, another scenario. If first user now logs out of server, everything works fine for second user, sd_dataform.bat opens a new form, in his own session :) every time.

However if third user logs in and opens sd_dataform.bat, the form opens in second users session.

It's like a relay race baton :), it's the first logged in user that gets it.

Re: sd_dataform.bat problems on terminal server

In sp28:
Client 2008: Insert does not work with SD_dataform
Change Request: ITSM009686
they fixed other problem, but perhaps it help, if not post to HP as bug.
