preventing changing the status of service calls in service desk

i do face the following situation

engineers need not to be allowed to rechange the status of the [service call] back to (registered) or (open), once they did make the status (in progress)

You can use a UI rule and limit field value range.

It is an option under the actions section in the UI rule.
