outbound mail wproblem with SD 4.5

hi all;
outbound mail was working fine and suddenly servicedesk stopped sending any emails i try to send a test email but it gives an error "Mail server (server name) gives an error when try to send mail to (mail acount): Connection refused".
could any one help to find whate is the problem.

have to tried to telnet to the port 25 of your mail server, from SD Server ?

if you have any antivirus/firewall running, try to stop them, then try.

please let me know, if you need any more help.
