number of characters in email subject

We want to send an email notification with a database rule. We put information from HPSD in the subject field of the email and have some scripting running on the Lotus Notes server which translates this subject information into a Lotus Notes email.

The subject field for sending an email from HPSD is only 80 characters long, we need more charachters. Is it possible to increase the length of this field?

Thanks.

Hi John,

as far as I know you cannot increase the size of the field.

Re: number of characters in email subject

Hi John,
We are also using notifications from OVSD via Lotus Notes messaging. If we are taking about service calls notification for example, subject of E-mail contains a simple text like this: "Service call 111893 has been assigned to you" while the content of E-mail is a copy of "Information" field of service call. Thus, is no necessary to have an increased length of E-mail subject.
You can try it, but I'm not sure if there is or not different reason to accept that.
Best regards,

Re: number of characters in email subject

Thanks Dan for you reply,

That is the "normal" way. But we have some Url's in our email to accept or to decline a solution and the format of HPSD email is not able to translate the URL's into a Yes or No button.

Thats why we build the email to the customer in Lotus Notes and only send the necessary information, to build the email, from HPSD in the subject line.
