Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

Hi Govind,

Try removing the cache directory (usually C:\Documents and Settings\user\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk) and then trying the client again

Hope this helps

What service Pack are you using?

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

Hello Govind,

have you had an old client installed on your computer?

We received this message after installing the SD4.5 client on a machine where the SD3.0 client was used before.

SD sees the old useraccounts an ends with this message.

We changed the useraccount information (starting SD_USERACCOUNTS.BAT) to solve this.

Hi.

What is your JVM version? The latest (I think the best one) is 5.00.3810.

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

we have the odd issue with similar error messages. Removing all the files in each folder in the path \\application data\Hewlett-Packard\Openview\Service Desk has cured the problem on more than one occasion. I'm not saying this is the answer but it has got us a few users up and running again

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

Govind,

if you have this error another take a look in the cache folder for a file with size 0kb. Removing the 0kb file should solve your problem

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

Hi.

Thank you for this information. I had the same error and deleted the contents of the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\MyUserName\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk" and the contents of the sub directories and it solved the problem. I only had to enter my login information again and everything works.

Thanks,
Olafur

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

We had the problem earlier this week after upgrading from SP15 to SP21. Turns out that somehow the timeout for concurrent licences was changed. The error was produced because we were running out of concurrent licences.

Check your number of logged on concurrent users to see if that has anything to do with it.

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

I renamed the file called USER.dat to User.dat-old which was in my root directory /service desk. I also deleted all the files in the cache. this resolved the problem, you may not need to delete all the files in any other folder keeping your server settings etc etc. Once you are connected into service desk , exit it. You can then rename the USER.dat-old to USER.dat file back to the orginal name and then go back into Service desk and it should all be working fine.

Re: java.lang.RuntimeException:Unexpected EOF.

Hi,

I had same problem. deletin the .DAT files under the directory "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk\RATClient" is helping.

Thank you
