email and new service calls


Until last friday new service calls were being generated when users sent an e-mail to ServiceDesk. The job which does this has not been modified in any way, but has just stopped working after a server restart.

The ServiceDesk application server is started.

It is possible to both send and recieve emails to the server, but ServiceDesk does not process new emails.

Any ideas on what is wrong?

check smtp 25 port. s it free? maybe windows smtp service was startedafter reboot?

Microsft SMTP server is not installed on the server.

When I establish a telnet session to port 25 of the server i get a "220 service desk 4.5 SMTP Service Ready for input." reply, so I'm fairly confident I'm reaching the right SMTP service. :-)
