XML import Serial Number not working

I'm getting this error

While processing ExcelFiles (id = 1):
The number you have typed is not recognized as a number. Please type a number that only contains numeric characters between 0 and 9 and digit grouping symbols as set under your
user options. For example: 12,345

I'm importing the Serial Number to the CMDB database. If I do it hoever the UI it works OK.

Re: XML import Serial Number not working

Hi Nuno,

I think its not a problem with the .ini.
Although I would prefer to write the classname in upper case.

Mostly the excelfile is wrong.
Check you xml file. Is the number correct?

Hello,

In the DSN - ExcelFiles , please select appropriate data type for the columns.
Like number / Char etc.,

Re: XML import Serial Number not working

Serial number I want to add is not a number it is alpha and the aplication does support alpha characters.

Attched is the XML file.

Re: XML import Serial Number not working

Ok. The .xml seems to be correct.

Because you can write the serial number to CMDB by UI, the field is for alpha characters.

Then the last chance is the import mapping.
Check it, please.

It could be easier if you just import a view items. Delimit the number of item at the ECW.
What happens if you just import numbers?

Re: XML import Serial Number not working

Hi,

Yes - the XML does look OK. I don't think that this is your issue, but if importing from excel strange things can happen. See

http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=994764

But your XML seems to be saying it is a string. Can you post a screen shot of the Mapping?

Cheers
