Why is the time stamp is 1 hour wrong?

Hi,

I'm running SD 4.5 on SP17.

I have a DB rule which concatenates information from one text field into another when the SC is saved.

The rule also creates a time stamp and adds that info to the field at the same time.

The time stamp is created by using the following format:

$DD$/$MM$/$YYYY$ $HH$:$MI$

It has been noticed that the time is exactly one hour wrong.

I'm sure it was correct when I set it up. Can anybody explain why it should be an hour out now?

Is it something to do with British summer time and daylight saving?

Thanks

Re: Why is the time stamp is 1 hour wrong?

Hi,

are the app servers in the UK or on UK timezone.

Check the logserver.txt. Do something that generates an update to the logserver.txt and see is the log file being stamped with the correct time.

Hello Peter,

The "variables" $DD$,$MM$,$YYYY$,$HH$, $MI$ are in GMT datetime with no daylights savings.

Re: Why is the time stamp is 1 hour wrong?

Hi Peter,

We (Fox) have started to use 2 DB rules for the concatenate - 1 for create and 1 for mdify and use Registration;Created and Registration;Modified respectively to get round this issue.

Hope this helps, Ruth

Re: Why is the time stamp is 1 hour wrong?

Sometime in the past hp advised me that the time variables and logserver.txt time stamps are taken from the Java. I was using the "Current Date/Time" function in the DB rule with the diary concetenations as opposed to the variables posted above.

Should the correct time be shown if the java is correct?

I this similar to the recent change in US DST where App servers in the US had to apply a java patch to change the DST?

Re: Why is the time stamp is 1 hour wrong?

Hello,

As stated in page 45 of sd45_sp20_addendum_en.pdf all datetime variables are in UTC. In UTC daylight saving time is not taken into account.

So GMT+1 = UTC+1 is correct for british summer time.

Re: Why is the time stamp is 1 hour wrong?

Thanks guys and girls.

I've replaced the variable with the Registration Modified.

Seems to work fine.
