View access level in a role hides object fields

Hi all,

OVSD 5.1 / SQL / Windows environment

I am setting new roles. Access level for a CI, a Person or a Change is set to view only.

The problem I have is stated in point 1; points 2 and 3 are additional notes:

1 - when a user from that role opens a CI / Person / Change form, most (if not all) of the attributes contents are invisible.

2 - If I assign modify access level for those object in that role, then the attributes "reappear".

3 - a view can display the actual contents of those attributes even if the role has only view access to the object.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance

This definetly looks like a bug and should be reported. I have set up a role in the same way and get the same results.

Re: View access level in a role hides object fields

So did I - Seems it is a known issue and there is a work around-

Give the role modify access to the item type and then make all the fields either view or hidden. This should work but you will need to be aware that if a new custom field is activated then the role will have modify access until you specify view access explictly.

Apparently to be fixed in the next SP for 5.10

Yes, that would work as long as you don't want to use status entitlement. Let's hope next SP don't take too long to be released.
