Using Templates on existing objects

Can templates be used to populate fields on existing records. I am using Service Desk 5.1

AFAIK, templates can only be applied when creating an item. Once saved, the field becomes read-only.

Do not forget to assign points...

You can not modify/apply templates to records that have been already saved.

Templates are applied upon opening of the record.

You can try using UI rules though, to change to "default" values based on certain actions.
