Upgrade SD 4.5 on SQL 2000 to SQL 2005

Hi all,

I'm planning to upgrade SD 4.5 (SP 14) which sits on SQL 2000 to SD 4.5 (SP25) with SQL 2005.

I'm not sure how to proceed with the upgrade. Do I uninstall SQL 2000 and install SQL 2005? Will my existing data on 2000 be supported in 2005? Is it typical attach and detach process?

I hope someone can guide me through this process.

Thanks!

Re: Upgrade SD 4.5 on SQL 2000 to SQL 2005

HI, SD 4.5 is connected whit SQL with ODBC, if configuration of language and permision in SQL 2005 if equal to 2000, no problem.
I change 2000 x 2005, I upgrade the engine sql, only that.

Re: Upgrade SD 4.5 on SQL 2000 to SQL 2005

There is a patch available from HP for HPSD for the SQL 2000 to SQL 2005 upgrade. We used it last year and had no problems, but we moved the database from the SQL 2000 boc to the SQL2005 box...ie we dind't upgrade on the same database server. Just ask HP support for the patch.
I would rather separate the two upgrades just in case though - ie do the upgrade to SP25 first, then upgrade to SQL 2005.

We found everything in HPSD under SQL2000 worked fine in SLQ2005 - all data etc supported.
