Updating fields using Generic Relations

Hi,

I have a scenario where in need to relate service calls for which i have created generic relation from service call to service call.

Now, i need to update a field in related service calls based on a trigger.

For example i have three service calls called SC1, SC2, SC3.

I have related SC2 , SC3 to SC1 using generic relations.

Scenario :
-----------
When SC1 is closed, SC2, SC3 should also be closed(status = closed).

Problem :
----------
I was trying to write a DB rule when SC1 is closed ,

1) Select Data Update
2) Select the related item checkbox
3) Select the Generic relation that i have created.
4) But i am not able to find the status field in the Fields.

Hence i am not able to update field updation of the related service calls using generic relations.

Can anyone help me in this regard?

Many Thanks
Durga

Re: Updating fields using Generic Relations

Hello Durga,

Unfortunately you cannot update fields through generic relations. You can only limit field range base on generic relations.

I'd agree with George - HP have missed several tricks here, generic relations could be so much more useful for example if they allowed field values to be selected in rules - could probably cut my rule count by 90%.
