Update Service Call from SUB CONTRACT FORM

Hi,
We open an sub contract form for the vendors and follow the desired process.
But the problem i m facing is that when the sub contract gets closed the main service call form doesnt get updated or closed.
Please find the DB rule which i have written...

Name: set SC Call to CLOSED from SUB-CONTRACT FORM
Blocked: No
Condition: When service call is created or modified
where Status (*) equals ResolvedORClosed
AND Assignment;To workgroup (*) equals VENDOR-SUPPORT
AND Status (*) equals Closed
Actions: set SC Call to CLOSED from SUB-CONTRACT FORM (Update Data) Solution set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Solution]; Status set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Status]; Information set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Information]; Closure code set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Closure code]; Category set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Category]; Classification set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Classification]

Is any problemt with the logic.

Any suggestions are welcome.

Hi there,

Why have got the 2 conditions on Status? Try removing the "AND Status (*) equals Closed"

N thanks for ur reply...
n it works but u know it has change the status of both the calls from change to Assigned to Vendor

is anything still wrong in my DB rule

and also it is not updating my fields like category, classification, solution etc...
is anything still wrong in my DB rule

Hi there,

My advice to remove the "AND Status (*) equals Closed" condition is because the rule will not fire if the Status=resolved.

Try
where Status (*) equals ResolvedORClosed
AND Assignment;To workgroup equals VENDOR-SUPPORT

Note this recommends removing the selection of "Evaluate ....".

hey ruth,
i hv removed that condition and now when i m closing the sub contract form, the status of both the forms is getting changed to Assigned to Vendor.
And also the fields from sub contract form are not getting updated in the main service call form.
Can u please check my update data in the DB Rule, where i m updating from sub contract form to service call form

This looks as though the update is taking place the wrong way round. Can you post screen shots of how you have defined all the update data actions.

Hi there,

I think you have these the wrong way round: for example you have;

Closure code set to [Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Closure code];

and I think it should be

[Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Closure code] set to Closure code ;

But I have just tried to do this and when I select in update action it does not offer me any code fields when I select Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall!
It lets me update Solution but not any code fields. I am on SP 16 and I am pretty sure it used to work in earlier SP.

I would recommend you try it and see if it works for your system.

I tried wat u hv told me, but in that case i could not find the code field to be updated, i can only update the text fields...

Hi there,

That's what I said in my last answer - no code fields are available. So I think you cannot do exactly what you want.

A workround would be to have a second rule which was triggered by the solution being set and status still at Assigned to vndor and that does the reset of the status etc.

Hi Esc,

First of all try to take one data update separate of this data update action in the same rule.Even me also faced this problem with auto setting of approval fields.The same got resolved by two workarounds:

1) When I changed the sequence of actions in the same action of data update,it resolved.

2)When I separately defined dataupdate actions in the same rule.

Try this.it will solve your issue.

Try, DB rule 1
Condition: When service call is created or modified
where Status (*) equals ResolvedORClosed
AND Assignment;To workgroup (*) equals VENDOR-SUPPORT
Action - update data
[Subcontract call Subcontract call from servicecall Solution] set to Solution

Rule 2
When service call is created or modified
where Solution(*) Not empty
AND Assignment;To workgroup equals VENDOR-SUPPORT
Action - update data
Closure Code set to a suitable value
Simialr for Category and Classification
Status set to Resolved
