Update Data

Team,

Im trying to create a simple database rule that updates the date to the current system date when the status has been changed to close. Simple.

The database, server and client are all in its original state; no sp's!

Why because everytime i try to patch it, i get errors so we have decided to run with it unpatched.

Attached is the database rule.

Once in the Service call, i change the status to close, it doesnt update.

Re: Update Data

Hi,

Try this DB rule:

When Service Call is created or modified
where Status (*) equals Closed

Actual Finish = System Date (Update Data)
Actual Finish set to (Current Date)

Hope this helps.

Re: Update Data

Thanks guys,

Attached is the blow by blow of the Rule.

Amykoh:

When Service Call is created or modified
--> where Status (*) equals Closed

Actual Finish = System Date (Update Data)
--> Actual Finish set to (Current Date)

How did you get the (*)?
How did you set it to (current Date). I only have the option of Update data, Command Ex and Send Email.

Thanks

Re: Update Data

Hi,

The option (*) refers to the checkbox just below the condition "Evaluate this rule when this field is changed" and the current value option is available in update data (I am using sp13) when you write:

Date equals--- then you might be getting three things:
1) value
2) field
3) and a third drop down(I do'nt remember the name) where you get an option of current date also..

Hope this helps.

Re: Update Data

Hi,

As mentioned above, the (*) is when the Evaluate check box is ticked.

I'm using SP16.

In your case, Select 'Update Data'

At the pop up window, Enter a name for this rule.

Click on 'Fields' -> Select 'Actual Finish'.
Click on the button icon on the right (above 'Add to List' button)

This should bring up another window.
Select 'Function' at the drop down list, should display 'Current date'.

Click OK, then 'Add to List'.

This should work. (hopefully on SP 4 as well)

Re: Update Data

Thanks guys!

It helps if i was in the correct section. I was adding my rule under database and not UI.

Appreciate your help.
