UI Rule insanity - are they cached somewhere locally?

Setting the stage: We have two person records on each request - a requester and a client. If either of them have a persontype (custom field) of "VIP". We worked this way for a few months and I was recently asked to make the rule fire for clients only.

No problem. I open the UI Rule, strip out the condition and everything is good right? That's what I thought... but WRONG!

I've double, triple, quadruple checked the logic. There's NO condition looking for VIP person type on Requester... but the actions still trigger every single time.

What am I missing?

Hi -=R=-,

You can enable the debug mode for this UI rule.

Then trigger the UI rule again in your PC, you should get a rulelog locally in your client profile showing why the rule triggered, that might help you.

Re: UI Rule insanity - are they cached somewhere locally?

Hello,

yes UI rules are part of the client cache. You can empty the cache from the client options or as follows:

if exist "%APPDATA%\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk\cache" del "%APPDATA%\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk\cache\*.*" /Q

Then restart the client and try again.

Sorry, I've just noted you are at 5.1, I was meaning 4.5.
You can disregard my post.

But they should still be cached locally in OVSD 5.1 right?

Re: UI Rule insanity - are they cached somewhere locally?

You can try, but I don't know the 5.1 client architecture.

Client cache in SD5.1 is stored in this folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\HP OpenView\

From my previous post, the log I mentioned should be in that folder also.
