Hi

We use SD 4.5 SP17 and we are experiencing serious performance/availability issues.

The general experience is that users already logged to SD can use it normally but when a user opens the client, it is unavailable. After several minutes all users experience service unavailability.

While this happens, the server HW-wise does not seem to have any problems (normal CPU, RAM, disk, network usages)
SQL seems to be fine as well according to our DBAs

The only indication we have is to Java memory being exhausted, but we have changed the setting to use the max possible of java mem, to no avail.

This is an extract of one of the errors we see:

hi,

when you increased the memory settings did you uninstall and reinstall the services if running the app servers from the services or stop and restart the application server if running from the start menu?

You will need to uninstall and then reinstall the services for the memory settings to take effect. There is an uninstallservice.bat file to remove the service. If you have installed more that one application servers you then need to make copies of this and run it for each server name.
//Add this to "OnDomLoad" event
