Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

That's actually

C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\service desk 4.5\server\log

on Windows Server 2003.

Could it be that your database engine is stopped for backups and then restarted afterwards? In such case, you would see your database being sugar and spice and everything nice and the Service Desk server crashed.

Post the server log and we'll have more clues.

Points are welcome.

Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

I am sorry, the size of the log is so big that I can not open it.
Why the services of the service desk are usually stop in sunday and monday,if the database is unusual?
In sunday, the account users are much few than other days.

Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

Check "sheduled tasks" on that server - may be something make trouble with JVM.
Clear log file, if it`s so big, that you can`t read it.

Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

Hi,

Stop the OVSd services and rename the log file. then start them up again and see of you can trap a log message around the time of the issue to see what could be happening.

Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

Looks like your appserver is failing during start-up of the business layer and not being able to access the database repository.

I'd make sure the application server is shut down before the database is undergoing backup and restart the services once the backup is completed.

Also, how many Scheduled Tasks are there?
If you see 1000 listed, there are probably more than that. Tell us if you see more than 1000.

Oh, and by the way, your SD appserver is using Java 1.5.0, which is only supported after SP25 and you are currently running SP22.

So far you've received help from 4 forum members but have not assigned points to any reply. Remember, assigning points is the mechanism to reward other forum members sharing their knowledge and taking the time to help you.

Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

Thanks to Pike for your help,I am sorry to forget to assign the points to the members who help me.
There is only one Scheduled Task that backup the database.
Now,the appserver stop before the database undergo backup, and I can not find the reason.
Please tell me how to check the version of the databse is sp22 or not.
thank you very muck.

Re: The service of HP Openview service desk is always stopped in sunday and monday

The version of the database vs. the version of the application server should not be much of an issue since the appserver ultimately starts.

I'm not sure we understood each other as for how many scheduled tasks there are.

My question was: "How many Scheduled Tasks are there?".

To which you answered: "There is only one Scheduled Task that backup the database".

To clarify, I meant Service Desk Scheduled Tasks created by DB Rule actions (Administrator Console >> Business Logic >> Scheduled Tasks).

Hi,

you need to increase your java memory allocation (and see if that helps).

Details are here
