Service Pages authentication

Does anybody know which authentication methods can be used to logon to HP Service Pages? Is the HP "by design" way the only option or are there more options to authenticate?

Re: Service Pages authentication

Maarten,

By design only sp and sd accounts could be used in service pages. In our web-enabled product we have built some other authentication types.

Something like, retrieve persons logon id, try to find corresponding person with sp account and logon on background with a password you have coded for everyone for sp accounts.

Re: Service Pages authentication

Maarten,

It is possible to integrate the Service Pages authentication and Active directory. Search the web for the sample asp codes

Re: Service Pages authentication

Maarten,

questions about possible different authentication methods come quite often now. Here's my answer about Active Directory (Windows NT Domain) from other thread. There is a solution but it is not really that straightforward - requires some Java and Apache knowledge (but works nicely). See my answer in this thread: http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=782159

If you want to have other form of authentication authority (company Intranet for example), that can be served as well with this principle - what is crucial is retrieving user's identification and then creating a session for that user.

There's also another way to do these things - having one permanent connection to SD that 'mimics' the user actions. However history log file then contains entries that say that this permanent connection did all the actions (you however can set Caller and all other Person fields to whatever you want)...

We have already implemented these scenarios with some customers. If you have the skills (Java & Apache) I believ you should be able to re-create the solution outlined. If you do not have them - we're ready to help :-)

Best regards
