Service Manager Operator Profiles

Can someone help me with the functionality of the following checkboxes in the below mentioned profiles?

1) Incident Management Profile:
what is the difference between the "New" and "Log" checkboxes?

what is the functionality of "allow inefficient query"?

2) Service Desk Profile:

what is the functionality of "view" checkbox and what does it has to do with the "update" condition?

what is the use of approval groups in service desk profile?

3)configuration management Profile:

what is the use of device type restrictions tab? and what should be written in it?

4)change Management profile:

under the approvals/groups tab, what is the user of managers group? what are they responsible for?
