Re: Service Desk -CiscoWorks

Habibi,

What do you want to do? Compare the CMDB to data from CiscoWorks? Create incidents in OVSD from CiscoWorks? Other?

If you want to create incidents, the technique is to have CiscoWorks trigger the application sd_event. This will allow you to create an incident in OVSD.

If you want to compare configuration data, then you can extract the data from Cisco and read the corresponding data from OVSD (using the Views is a handy way to do this), and then write some script to compare the two data sets.

If you want to update the CMDB from CiscoWorks (which is NOT best practice), then you need to create an XML file with the data updates and import this file into OVSD using DataExchange. You an also create the XML file from a flat file, ODBC source, etc., using DataExchange.

Does that put you on the right path?
