Service Desk 4.5 - Unable to Open Attachments

When attempting to open an attachment in SD 4.5, I receive a generic "Error" Message and the attachments will not open. I suspect this is a setup issue on my local PC. Any thoughts for a resolution? This happens in all modules (Organization, Project, etc.)

Hi Eric,

In SD to work with attachments, the client PC needs to have permissions to connect to the attachment server directly.

Maybe there is a problem or firewall blocking the FTp connection between the PC and the FTP server.

Hi eric,

can you attach a file?, if so can you then view it. Also logon as admin and go to the
system panel / attachment settings and click the "test connection"
its a long way to the top if ya wanna

* Do you use passive FTP?
*Are you in the same network?
If not configure your host file on your windows machine.
You find that file in the following folder:C:\windows\System32\drivers\etc\host.
In this file specify the external IP adress and hostname of the SD/FTP server.

I have some question to better understand this problem:
1. Can you please give the complete error message?
2. Can other users open the attachment from the same call?
3. When you go to the system panel, and then open attachments settings, you can try to test the connection. Does this work?
4. Can you attach an attachment to the call?
5. Do you have this problem with all calls?

If this problem only occurs with one attachment:
1. What type of file is it?
