Search Code for Person should be all Numbers

Hi,

We are currently running OVSD 4.5 with Microsoft SQL 2005 as backend database.

I have requirement where we want the Persons Search Code to be all NUMBERS as we want the employee numbers to be the searchcode.

Currently the system support having the First character as Alphabet and others can be Numbers but this will not help me.

So I need help in achieveing this; so please suggest if there is any workaround for the same.

Thanks in Advance.

Cheers !!!

Re: Search Code for Person should be all Numbers

You can create another field call 'Emp#' for example.

try alter the settings in Adminitration Console:
presentation > search > person > "search" tab > search field
from SearchCode to another field (Emp# in your case)

Re: Search Code for Person should be all Numbers

Hello Kriengsak,

Thanks !!

I will require this new field that I will create as "Employee Number" to be UNIQUE. I would not want 2 Person records to have the same Employee Number how can I achieve this? Any Suggestions

Cheers !!

Re: Search Code for Person should be all Numbers

Badri,

OVSD has no internal way of forcing unqiueness on any field except certain search codes.

The way people generally work around this is by setting up either a smart action or an overview action to display any existing items with the same field value, or to otherwise warn that the value is not unique.
