SP19 Email Service Call question

Hello,
We've recently migrated to 4.5 SP19 (MS SQL server) and are looking at the new Email Service call functionality. I've got a couple of questions for Those Who Know.

1) Is it possible to add SMTP headers / fields other than those already present?
2) Are hand-entered mails sent by SMTP from an application server or from the client machines?

Regards,

Re: SP19 Email Service Call question

By hand-entered I mean typed in on a form, as opposed to being caused by a rule or an assignment.

Re: SP19 Email Service Call question

Erik,

According to the OVSD manual:

"There is a potential security policy issue with this feature. In order to use the feature, Service Desk Client will have to connect Outbound Email Server directly to send outbound email. If the security policy for Outbound Email Server allows access only to authorized users, this feature will not work properly."

I understand by this that the OVSD client is acting like an SMTP client and that the message is sent directly from the client to the mail server, and that it does not transit the OVSD application server (except for that save of the data in the email).

Re: SP19 Email Service Call question

Well, I'll have to chat with my mail admin then.

Thanks for the quick answers.
