SD5 SP1 SQL Server DB replication

Hi,

I'd like to replicate my production DB (SQL Server 2000) to another server, to use it as a test environment for changes. This must be a common procedure, so what I'm asking is for someone to write down the steps to achieve this.

Thanks in advance!

Re: SD5 SP1 SQL Server DB replication

Hi,

i follow the below steps to achieve the above behavior.

Note: I am currently using MSSQL 2000

1) Open SQL Enterprise Manager
2) right click on the Database that I am using for OVSD
3) select "All Tasks --> Backup Database..." and specify the location and file where i need to backup
4) once backup is done, copy this file to the destination system
5) open SQL enterprise manager on the destination system, create a new database having the same name that is being used on the source machine
6) Right click on the new database, select "All Tasks --> Restore Database..."
7) once the database is restored, start the OVSD Application Server, using DB COnfiguration wizard, upgrade the database and then start using it.

i hope these steps helps you.

all the best.

Re: SD5 SP1 SQL Server DB replication

Hi,

We are also testing replication with SD5 and SQL 2000. No issues with replication, but when we try to switch Database server (SQL) to the other one.

Object Server fails to start, after switching back to original SQL Server, Object server starts successfully.

Any Ideas ?
