SD5 - DB rules ordering

Hi all SD5 gurus,

I'm implementing business logic in SD5 for our customer and I discover that database rules can have the same ordering number. Now it's not clear for me what is important for ordering of db rule execution. From my point of view it's a bug. Any experience with this ...

Thanx a lot for your comments.

Solution

Re: SD5 - DB rules ordering

Hi Frodo,

Sometimes you need to ensure that one rule (DB or UI) is executed before another (for example if the second empties a field used by the first).

There is a bug in SD5 that permits rules to have the same ordering and then it can be difficult to get them in the order you realy want. The workround which I found was to create "dummy" rules and reordering those allowed me to get the order i really wanted and then I deleted the dummy rule.

Hope this helps
