SD 5 service pages - Does it work at all?

Hello everyone,

I have installed SD5 and Service pages on a win2003 machine.

service pages refuse to work although no errors happened during installation. I got the wonderful "Installation Completed successfully"

ovc -status shows below:
ovcd OV Control CORE (3296) Running
ovloginsv OV Login Server JAVA Stopped
ovsdreport OV Service Desk Reporting SDREPORT (2476) Running
ovbbccb OV Communication Broker CORE (3548) Running
ovobs OV Object Server OBS (5976) Running
ovapacheA OV Apache(A) WebServer Service WEB (3836) Running
ovsdma OV SLM OVSD Metric Adapter SLM (7116) Running
ovcs OV Certificate Server SERVER Stopped
ovsdslm OV Service Level Management SLM Aborted
ovtomcatA OV Tomcat(A) Servlet Container Service WEB Aborted

How can I (trouble)shoot it?

Any help will be geatly appreciated. It is really urgent.

Thanks a lot in advance

Hi Elias,

The Tomcat installation also installs a windows service, try starting it and see if it reports any error in the event logs.

Second thing you can try is from the command line run;
ovc -start ovtomcatA

Most likely this will not give a useful error in the dos window but you can check the log files (look for the last one modified) this will most likely show an error or warning about what is going wrong.

Re: SD 5 service pages - Does it work at all?

Here is some Additional Info:

I am trying to access the service pages by
http://localhost/ServicePages

I get:
"The page cannot be found"

and now the ovobs component in ovc -status changed to :

ovobs OV Object Server OBS Aborted

Meaning that I am no longer able to open the Java client also.

I did some tracing on the OVOBS server

I got the following:

">>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tracing Started: Wed Feb 22 10:33:39 2006"
"Begin: obs.server.startup"
"Begin: obs.server.startup"
"Thrown: obs.server.startup [data=[java.net.BindException: Address already in use: JVM_Bind]]"
"End: obs.server.startup"
"Thrown: obs.server.startup [data=[java.lang.Error: One of the services could not be started.]]"
"End: obs.server.startup"
"Begin: obs.server.shutdown"
"End: obs.server.shutdown"
"<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< Tracing Terminated: Wed Feb 22 10:33:56 2006"

Re: SD 5 service pages - Does it work at all?

ovc -start ovtomcatA

results in start in starting this component for a while then It goes back to the aborted state.

ovtomcatA OV Tomcat(A) Servlet Container Service WEB Aborted

I am now more concerned to troubleshout the ovobs component since I am no longer able to run the JAVA client anymore as you can see in my previous post.

Thanks in advance

Re: SD 5 service pages - Does it work at all?

Hi Elias,

You should use the port number as well which is 8004 by default.

http://localhost:8004/ServicePages

Re: SD 5 service pages - Does it work at all?

The ovobs server is no longer starting. The full client is not able to launch. I need to troubleshoot that first.

Any ideas?

Re: SD 5 service pages - Does it work at all?

Checking the installation log file I found the following two warnings (but zero errors):

2257601 Thread-229 WARN com.hp.ov.installer.ovapp.misc.OvInstallUtilities Action failed One or more scripts failed to initialize during installation.

2257632 Thread-229 WARN com.hp.ov.installer.ovapp.core.OvInstaller The script is failed : Failed to start the server

It seems that from the start the server failed the start.

Any help?
