SD 5.1 install error (launch anywhere error)

Any ideas?

Getting error:
launch anywhere error unable to locate executable (click ok)

This happens when intializing the intaller. SD 5.1 was already installed on the box, now we are trying to uninstall it for a fresh install.

When using add/remove programs it errors out as well.

Could this be a permissions issue possibly?

Thanks

Re: SD 5.1 install error (launch anywhere error)

I'm seeing references to deleting the entire folder structure on the box it was installed on initially. Good idea? Who knows I'm giving it a shot.

Has anyone else ran into this issue w/ the installer not wanting to A. uninstall or B. re-install/install OVSD?

Re: SD 5.1 install error (launch anywhere error)

Thanks to a customer running into this themselves, I found a possible solution:

The root cause appeared to be that the TEMP variable contains a space in the value. Go to Control Panel > System > Advanced > Environment Variables, and change the TEMP System variable, for example to C:\Temp.

Then start the installation again.

Re: SD 5.1 install error (launch anywhere error)

The comment made about modifying the System TEMP Environment variable was helpful to me. Although the System variable modification did not help, the User variable worked for me. i had no spaces in my variables, but it did require a change before the problem went away.
