SD 5.1 Performance Tuning

Hello,

Could those of you that have experiance in SD5.x and performance tuning please share?

My specific performance problem:
In the client, opening a Service Call can take up to 20 seconds...

Facts:
- Windows based
- SQL 2005 based (yada yada, not support, right now that..)
- Only SC with bad performance, other objects performe ok
- Working with migrated data so quite a lot of servicecalls
- No UI rules at all
- No scheduled tasks..

Tried:
- Increasing java memory variables in client
- Increasing java memory variables in server
- Tried on several installations (including localy on server)

Conlusion:
- Other objects (Problems, Incidents...) pops open with a snap*
- Not Network problem since same problem running client on server
- Not mem. problem since increased to absurd amunts.

My guess is that it is something with a calculation field going haywire.. But that's just a guess...

Re: SD 5.1 Performance Tuning

Hi Rikard

Just to confirm, we experience exactly the same here, with 5.1. We also had a 5.0 installation and never had a similar pefromance drop.

We use SQL 2000 just to take your SQL 2005 out of the scope ;-)

We have opened a call with HP, have you already?
But so far they only were asking for HW specs on our servers, etc...

Cheers

Re: SD 5.1 Performance Tuning

Right,

Awaiting HP personel, my fault actually since I haven't been on location for some time, hunting season in Sweden...

Anyway, something ontrac could be:

The Resoulution settings seemed to have been a problem for us. The Default support Hour had some 6 or 7 hundred different scheduled elements included...
I changed it to one for normal weekdays (weekly reccurance mon to fri)with no start or end date and performance went up!!!

Don't know if it is the proper solution, so will have the thread up until someone will verify, (HP or you dear forum members)

Re: SD 5.1 Performance Tuning

Right!

The performance issue where related to abnormalamount of scheduled elements contained in the schedule used for default support hour settings, why so many elements had been created, well that might be another question...
