SD 5.0 [again!]

I see that Service Desk 5.0 is released to developers. Do we have a date for customer release yet? I know that this is a very old question, but I haven't heard, or seen an updated release date for several months.

Also, what is the current service pack number on 4.5? I need to read the release notes to get back up to speed on the product.

Has anybody tried 5.0 in anger yet? Are there any tips on what to look out for? How different is the new SLM engine? How seamless is the Radia integration? Is the metric reporter easy to configure? Have the actions been improved - if so, what can we do now?

I've had a look at http://devresource.hp.com/drc/resources/SD5/index.jsp but I still would be interested in any real experience!

Re: SD 5.0 [again!]

Hi Peter,

Latest communicated release date is November of this year.

Current Service pack for SD4.5 is SP15.
There are some new features in it like update and block all.

Re: SD 5.0 [again!]

Peter, I've had a look at the preliminary documentation of new SLM - it's weighting around 15MB and has approx. 300pages! From what I briefly saw it is reworked pretty much.

I have no other knowledge about SD5 except for what has been already announced last year - Single Sign-On (JAAS), graphical CMDB browser and some other stuff (it's quite good to check ERs that should be implemented in SD5 for more info).

Re: SD 5.0 [again!]

hi

pls see the belo info:

The enhanced HP OpenView Service Level Manager 5.0 module manages the end-to-end lifecycle of services and service-level compliance reporting. The only comprehensive ITIL-compliant solution built entirely around a common database, Service Level Manager enables users to optimize helpdesk and change management processes.

This module enables the process of defining, agreeing, measuring, reporting and improving the quality of service to run IT like a business. An easy-to-read dashboard allows users to proactively monitor service levels with the ability to drill down to the metric level, determine which part of the infrastructure or organization may cause a violation over time, and correct problems before they impact the business. With SLA information stored on the CMDB, prioritizing and planning for changes and staffing needs can be arranged around service hours in order to minimize impact to end users.

Companies will directly benefit from HP OpenView Service Level Manager 5.0 through several key features:

* Graphical SLA designer features full lifecycle coverage
* Compliance calculation engine is predictive and reports in near real-time
* Services/SLA compliance dashboard and reporting
* Out-of-the box adapters automatically discover metrics for key HP OpenView products
* Open adapter to build custom metric adapters, offering customers a way to gather new metric values from any external sources

HP IT Service Management: Significant and proven return on investment:

* 24 percent increase in operations management efficiency
* 25 percent reduction in service calls per week
* 25 percent improvement in calls handled by 1st level staff
* 70 percent improvement in service quality
* 75 percent reduction in time to fix downtime incidents
* 157 percent return on investment for an approximate12-month payback
