SD 4.5 service call classification, categories

Is it possible to restric list of categories and / or classification, entered when a new service call is created ?

To put it in another way; users should select only from specified categories/classification and not from all of them.

Is this possible ?

Yes, you can create a UI rule that will limit a code table to only those codes you specify. You'll need to find a condition (ie: Folder, Template Name, status, etc.), then simply select which ones they can select from.

Re: SD 4.5 service call classification, categories

Hello Andrej,

The best way to accomplish this with only one ui rule is through Generic Relations (SP17 or later).

What you do is to relate two entities (Eg, Service Call Status and Service Call Category) and enter the list of valid values. (For all statuses enter the valid Categories).

Then you can limit the value range based on generic relations and that's it.

In the classic way, for every value of "Status" you must create a rule to limit the value range of "Classification".

And there is an added bonus, using the classic way you can limit the range only of code fields, with generic relations you can limit the range of any entity!
