Re: SD 4.5 SP21 in production

Hi Michael,

with all the comments I red on this forum we decide to upgrade to SP 20 because of the performance issues -> Server gets slower.

Could you give some feedback concerning the reactivity of the tool with SP21.

Rgds,
Michel

Re: SD 4.5 SP21 in production

We had performance issues at first, however after some tuning of parameters and views it is as fast as the SP15 version was.

I wrote about our findings in this post:

Re: SD 4.5 SP21 in production

But it is not suggested to run SP21 with JDK 1.5, it still has the ITP zip/upzip performance issue.
It is suggested to use JDK1.4.2_09 or wait SP22 witch solved this issue.

Re: SD 4.5 SP21 in production

Michael, can you provide more details on what you did with respect to tuning your views. Did you take calculated fields off the views or did you create more filtered views to make them contain less rows?

Re: SD 4.5 SP21 in production

Hi Carol.

We replaced the field To Deadline with Deadline, the field Registered with Registration Created. In general we cut down the number of fields in the views.

A thypical view in Service call now includes the fields ID, Description, To person, Status, Deadline, Priority and Created.

We have no restriction on the number of entries, however we filter on timespan etc. and this restricts the max number of entries to 4-5000 in the "biggest" views.

A view with 4000+ entries now shows in 3-5 seconds instead of 3-5 minutes(!). Specially on terminal server this is apparent.
