Hi, we have a SD 4.5 SP 18 on w2003 running against an Oracle DB on other w2003 server. We can successfully start the SD server process, both as an app (sd_server start) and as a windows service, but the service won't start automatically whith windows startup. Event viewer logs a message ("The Java Virtual Machine has exited with a code of 1, the service is being stopped.") that, upon looking at the logserver files actually means that " Failed to open connection to service desk repository. Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection".
Just after the host has booted and is accessible through RDP, tnsping gives no errors. By looking at the timestamp, sd server is launched after the network cards are configured (actually we've forced this using regedit to make the service depend on TCPIP), but no way.
Is there a way of delaying the startup of the server when called as service (remember sd_sereverservice.exe is an .exe not a .bat)?
Hi optionally the problem with "service" - can't run the java.exe. For application server need install Sun java, this folder must be in PATH and need check it - from dos command window run java, what the response? what the version? if this test passed check next: "service" run manually? if no, check the register settings for "service", if yes, tune for "service" in tab Recovery what to do in first, second and subsequaet failure, set "Restart the service".
All seems to be in place. Java is avalaible from de dos command interface and in the PATH:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>java -version java version "1.3.1_03" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.1_03-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.1_03-b03, mixed mode)
Service starts fine interactively; I had already configured the service to restart at first, second and subsequent failures. But no go. I think there's something wrong with the network setup so that even after the network is theoretically ready, Sd fails to connect to the Oracle database.
