SD 4.5 - Error Message

Hi,

I wonder if someone can offer some advice, i have two machines that that have a SD client on them, however when they start the client they get an error message:

All my work group open calls

"com.ms.wfc.data.AdoException" (attached)

And they cannot access service desk.

Thanks

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Have you tried throwing away the cache?
Have these machines been used as SD40 machines?
Does the error occur always? Did ServiceDesk ever work on those machines?

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Hi Again,

The machines have only had SD 4.5 on them, and they did work. Ive tried deleting the cache, reinstalling the client but nothing seems to work,

any advice would be appreciated,

Thanks

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Since is works on other machines It is not a servicedesk bug but an environment related bug.

Have they tried recreating the view or is it a system view?
Have you tried modifying the view so it doesn't contain dates or calculated data?

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Hi,

I think, root c??use of this error is MS ADO. Try to reinstall .\tools\mdac\mdac_typ.exe from HP OV SD installation CD or get latest version of MS ADO from Microsoft (free download).

Best regards, Dmitriy.

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Maybe if you throw away all files and directories (except user_settings.xml) in:
C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\Hewlett-Packard\OpenView\Service Desk

It might be a corrupt views.dat or so.

(disadvantage: you will lose all self-defined views / etc)

Hi Again,

I tried what you suggested but it still comes up with the same error message.

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

This is the last thing I can think of:

Is there a difference in the Control Panel\Regional Options\tab Numbers or tab Currency with a PC where servicedesk does start

Especially look at the Decimal symbol and digit group symbol

Could you please give a screenprint of the "All my work group open calls" view from one of the PC's that does start?

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Than for the view Simon but I could find nothing wrong with it.

Please double check the decimal / Digit Grouping symbol

Have you checked if they can connect to the server (using client account) accounts?
Is nothing displayed in the logserver / logclient?

You might need to log a call at your local response center.

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Hi,

Some additional question. What operation system you use, what version of IE and what other software present on this machines?

Best regards, Dmitriy

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

I got the same error message.
SD4.5 installed on all PCs are fine except for one version of the image in the company. Not sure what exactly is the fault.
Reinstalled SD, cleared cache, created and copied views.dat, rename srv.dat to srv.dat.old and same prob.

Really at a loss.

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

I just had SD 4.5 installed on my computer and had the same error message(com.ms.wfc.data.AdoException) when trying to login. I am running Windows XP. I installed MDAC 2.8 and the problem was solved.

Re: SD 4.5 - Error Message

Simon,

we had this problem and I solved it by registering all the DLL files in the following folder

C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\ado

I don't know what the cause is but the above worked. It is definitely something "view" based but I just couldn't get to the bottom of it.

Best of luck
