Rule manager limitations

Hi,

Anyone knows about Rule Manager limitations in SD 4.5. It seems that if a lot of new items (via data exchange) are created in a short interval, the rule manager can not follow with executing the rules and drop some requests.

Although the load of the server is at a reasonable level.

Best regards

Sam

Re: Rule manager limitations

Yes - it is quite possible to overload the Rule Manager. This was one of the first "performance" issues I encountered with HPSD - we first had to ensure that Data Exchanges were going through a dedicated App. Server and subsequently it was the thing which drove us to run two App. Server instances on each box - the boxes had loads of spare memory and processor (duals) but a single "rule manager thread" couldn't cope.

Re: Rule manager limitations

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the respons. It's already a dedicated application server so we need to spread it over several servers.

The real problem is not that this happens but that you don't know it happens. So if there was an alert in the logfile we could live with this.

Best regards

Sam
