Retrieving the GUID Attribute from AD for Data Exchange

Hey All

I was wondering whether anyone has able to successfully build a data exchange task and retrieve the GUID attribute from Active Directory?

When I retrieve the values of the attribute, the values appear to be truncated and not return a normal string.

Regards,

This is a real pain as the GUID makes sense to be the unique key. I think the issue is that AD holds the GUID as a binary value while data exchange expects the data to be text. I am not sure if there are any function available to the LDAP connector to convert the data types.

Hi,

OK, somebody has to ask and its usually me....

What's the GUID?

The GUID is a unique identifier given to objects within AD.

Since the HPSD data exchange cannot handle binary, I've decided to use csvde to extract the data into CSV format.

The objectGUID still appears different when being converted into XML format, but at least it's unique.

XML can store binary data but I do not think SD DE can handle binary. That functionality is not there.
