Required field based on "Category" field

Does anyone know of a different way to make a required field based on the field "Category" of a Service Call that is not with a UI rule?

For example with a Database rule or any different way.

Thanks.

Re: Required field based on "Category" field

Hi Dani,

In 4.5 a UI rule is the only way - can I ask why you do not want to use a UI rule?

Re: Required field based on "Category" field

Thanks Ruth,

I can't use a UI rule because the action doesn't execute when using the option â Update allâ .

Re: Required field based on "Category" field

Hi Dani,

Sorry but I don't think there is anything you can do - what field are you trying to make mandatory?

Re: Required field based on "Category" field

Hi Dani,

The only things i can suggest are:

1. Remove ability to use update all

2. If that is not possible, have a DB rule which emails someone if a SC call is saved with the relevant catgegory but without the required fields present so that it can be followed up.

3. Run a regular report of view which shows all calls of that category where the required fields are not all set.

Hope something here helps

Re: Required field based on "Category" field

Dani,

You can still use a UI rule without tracking whether a field has changed or not. All you care about is whether, when the user tries to save the item, for a given category, the required field is empty.

Re: Required field based on "Category" field

Thanks Josh,

But already I have tried it by the way that you comment to me. But it's not executed if the user uses the option "Update all".
