Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

Dear All,

I tried to install web console. but they said I have no Java properly installed.

I'm using j2sdk-1_4_2_10-windows-i586-p.exe, already set the Java_home env variables too.

Does anyone ever got the same problem ?

screen shot is attached

Thanks in advance

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

Hi Eric,

When you installed J2SDK, I am assuming that JRE also got installed with it, and JAVA_HOME variable has been set. Also, Add the java/bin directory to your PATH environment variable. Just check in command line that when you type "java" in front of command prompt, you are getting the java usage details.

Hope this will help,

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

Already did it.

and everything ok when i run the java -version command, the result :

java version "1.4.2_10"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_10-b03)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2_10-b03, mixed mode)

Is there any problem with my java version ? should I downgrade ?

Thanks,

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

Hi,

Try to run setup like

webconsole_install.exe LAX_VM %Java_Home%/java.exe

or

webconsole_install.exe LAX_VM c:/j2sdk1.4.2_10/bin/java.exe

and see if you are able to run it.

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

I've noticed that sometimes when you install a different/newer version of the java products you need to re-install any others. The error is about the JVM so try reinstalling the JVM off the media (test env first!)

Mark Hummel:
Yes I know there is a problem with my Java uninstallatin and installation but still don't know why this happened.

Ogut Kutlu:
Thanks for your solution. It works great!. now i wonder to choose my java.
there are so many Java.exe.
c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe
c:\program files\java\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe
and the other more after search.
think this one is the problem.
Thanks to you!

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

Hi,

c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe
c:\program files\java\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe

There are both same version, you can choose whatever you want. Normally i choose first one. Since web console needs java 1.4, you must not choose 1.3 version sdk or jre comes with service desk, if they are listed.

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

I just want to make sure I did not misunderstanding.

It was said we need JDK right

I have two similiar java.exe

c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe
and
c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\bin\java.exe

Is this the same java.exe or different one ?

c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\bin\java.exe comes up after i pressed search.

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

They are same. Yes, readme.htm says web console needs j2sdk, but if j2sdk is installed, selecting jre's java.exe will also work.

J2sdk (software development kit) is development package, and jre (java runtime environment) is needed to run java applications.

Since j2sdk already contains jre (c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe) , there is no need for a seperate jre, but
j2sdk-1_4_2_10-windows-i586-p.exe file installs

SDK
c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\bin\java.exe

JRE inside SDK
c:\j2sdk1.4.2_10\jre\bin\java.exe

JRE in program files
c:\Program Files\jre\bin\java.exe

so you can choose any of it. I choose first one when installing Web Console, did not have any problem so far.

Re: Problem when installing Web Console SP 15

Very clear. That's new information for me.

Thanks a lot.
