Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

I have created an online petition for open-sourcing Service Desk 4.5 to be able (without legal obstacles) to provide support for those who decide not to migrate before the end of the year, possibility to fix bugs or even enhance the product. Anyone whether customer, consultant or generally interested please sign the petition here: http://www.petitiononline.com/HPOVSD45/petition.html

Any further ideas, improvements, etc. are welcome.

Hi Radovan,

I like this. I haven't been around in a while. Would love to see 4.5 live on.

Re: Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

Thanx Ken. If a lot of customers create enough of pressure for this I hope HP will not ignore them. Even if they decide to ignore them I am planning to research possible ways to provide support legally (technically it is not an issue even without HP providing sources).

Re: Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

Ladies and gentlemen,

are all of you in process of migration to SM7? Will you stop using SD 4.5 by the end of the year? If not, this petition is for you. It will allow you to maintain and enhance your installation even after HP stops supporting it.

Any other signatures please? I am in process of submitting the petition to HP so the more signatures the better chance.

Re: Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

I have already sent this in e-mail to 3 guys that I found in one older presentation to be ITSM managers for world regions. One got rehjected (probably not working there anymore), 2 others without any reply after 2 weeks.

My question is: do you have any idea where this should be submitted? You know any names that would be high enough to be able to reply in the name of HP?

Why don't you try asking the Forum support team - they should know?

Re: Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

I actually tried to do that: https://forums13.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=1376227 They just moved the thread into this forum :-(

I have tried submitting Enhancement Request with information about open source petition but I got no reply nor can I find it on the site. Seems like they deleted it or blocked access to it...

Anybody got any other ideas on how to reach the right people in HP???

Re: Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

AFAIK, enhancement requests on Service Desk are no longer being processed.
Have you tried your software sales rep? Or what HP calls a Business Escalation?

The problem is, through sales or a business escalation it all comes down to financial impact. Nonetheless, I *think* sales reps do have access and could put you in contact with SD product management.

I think if HP had anything to gain from making SD open-source, that would definitely capture their interest. Else, I think it's a lost cause.

Also, Enhancement Requests have a support ticket associated to them, check its status online, have a duty manager contact you to find out about it and have him tell you if it's been blocked, deleted or improperly closed.

My 0.02 only.

Re: Petition to Open Source Service Desk 4.5

The ER got submitted but I cannot see the ticket online.

I sent email there and got reply that it was forwarded as RfI to R&D team.

Account Manager option was proposed to me as well but I would not rather go that way for some reasons. Maybe I'll try that in the end...
