Performance very bad

Hi

Working on SD4.5 with SP4

Our SD application and DB is running on Win2K adv Server. The RAM is 2GB.

But the server is running very slow. The CPU utilisation is 100% all the time. SD server service uses the max.

Kindly suggest increasing the performance of the server.

Re: Performance very bad

Hi,

how many users do you have accessing the app server at any one time.

Have you changed the default java memory allocations to use more ram? The default onesa are not optimal.

Re: Performance very bad

Hi Mark,

Thanks a lot for the reply.

I forgot to tell, that this is our Test Server which I have installed new.

As of now, there are no users connected to it. Can you kindly let me know the specifications for changing the Memory Settings.

Re: Performance very bad

Hi,

We had Service Desk 4.5 SP4, we had bad performance when there are 40 connected users on each server (3 servers on load-balancing)
in this verion, there is a bug. On August, we have applied patch 18, and now performances are good.

Re: Performance very bad

Hi Mark,

I have done the changes for memory allocation. But still the performance has not increased.

Is there any other way, i could check the same.

Thanks once again.

Re: Performance very bad

Hi Harini,

sometimes also schedule tasks make troubles. How many schedule task do you have on your server?
Number of DB rules also plays some role especially if they are scheduled.

As Patricia mentioned we also faced similar problem and new servicepack had helped.

Re: Performance very bad

Hi Harini,

I can think of 2 things to check;

1. Number of scheduled tasks
2. size of logserver.txt

Both these can cause issues

Hope this helps

Ruth
