Patch updates using SMS 3.0

Hello,
I've read the install procedures for the msi pack and it states simply use msiexec.exe /p client.msp /qn, it fails everytime on any OS... any ideas? errors like cannot access c:\config.msi, application hung, etc...

Thanks

Re: Patch updates using SMS 3.0

UPDATE:
This is what my cmd file looks like:
msiexec /p \\SERVERNAME\Patches\OVSD\windows\client\client.msp /qn

this works on some XP desktops but not others, why?

errors:
product hp ov sd 4.5 client -- error 1706 no valid source could be found... windows installer cannot continue.

Product: hp OpenView service desk 4.5 client - Update '{985B1980-5C2B-4D2F-BF84-75B3CD2C91EF}' could not be installed. Error code 1603. Windows Installer can create logs to help troubleshoot issues with installing software packages. Use the following link for instructions on turning on logging support...

Product: hp OpenView service desk 4.5 client -- Configuration failed.

Any ideas?
I appreciate your time and help.
Marc

Re: Patch updates using SMS 3.0

Think I've narrow'd it down to msi installer issue and the fact drive letters have changed in the production world... msicuu2.exe was a fix suggested, bad idea in my opinion, used on T&D and ended up reinstalling everything, not once, but 4 times... just in case I was the culprit...
Any other ideas anyone?
