Past Scheduled Task did not removed from the system

Dear All,

I just found out that my Scheduled Task already over 1000 data. So the warning comes out and tell me to increate the query.(Anyone know how to?)

Thats not the main problem. I found out that most of the information there are out of date. There are a lot of Sheduled Task with date starting from january of 2006.

I just wondering what possible cause for this case? and how to delete those past schedule task.

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Past Scheduled Task did not removed from the system

hi Eric,

All scheduled tasks are assigned to a particular server and if, for any
reason, this server is not connected or working at the time the task is
scheduled the task will not be executed and therefore become overdue.
To avoid tasks becoming deleted, it is possible to reschedule the task to
another server from the Scheduled Tasks view.

Just try this option:

1. Open the View Schedule Tasks form from the Administrator Console.
2. Choose Reschedule Tasks from the Actions Menu.
3. In the Reschedule Tasks window select OK to reassign the tasks to
the server currently connected.

Re: Past Scheduled Task did not removed from the system

Raman,

Tried to reschedule, but the result was :
No Schedule Task assigned to down or obsolete servers found.

Do you know what this mean? and the scheduled task still there.

I tried to reschedule a task which have date October 11th 2005 12:07.

Do you have any idea?

Thanks,
Eric

Re: Past Scheduled Task did not removed from the system

Hello Eric,

Restarting the application server should solve the problem. If you have multiple instances, you must shutdown ALL instances and then restart. The outdated scheduled tasks should be removed.

Re: Past Scheduled Task did not removed from the system

Hello Eric,

The only "safe" way to delete these scheduled tasks is the restart. As a desperate measure you could execute the following query:

delete from rep_javaobjects
where jav_entity = (
select ent_oid
from ifc_entities
where ent_name = 'Scheduled Tasks')

Note that the query above will delete all scheduled tasks. Unfortunately, since scheduled task are encoded java object there is no easy way to distinct them.

And something last: Check all your DB rules that create scheduled tasks. Make sure that the times on which scheduled tasks are to be executed must allways fall in the future, relative to the rule. Usualy scheduled tasks based on registration;created or deadline can cause this kind of trouble because registration;created and deadline usualy are constants to all service call history.

Re: Past Scheduled Task did not removed from the system

Does patching the system will work for it?

It's not good for me to erase all scheduled task because there are a lot of scheduled task that haven't run.

Those Scheduled Task was created to notify every maintenance contract that will be end soon.

So what I have done was created scheduled task to every maintenance-contract that just created to run notification 2 months before "End Date".

Is this the right way to do it, or you have another trick?

Thanks,
Eric
