Outbound mail 550 error "Domain of forward path not allowed"

Hi all - having a strange "partial failure" on outbound emails.

We first got this error from our SMTP mail relay when we moved server and forgot to add a new IP ADDRESS as "permitted to forward".

Now DB RULE generated emails are flowing quite happily.

But still we get this error in two places :-
1. if we do SEND TEST EMAIL from admin
2. if we try to send mail from within Support Request using the ADD EMAIL_SERVICECALL.

Now, whenever I ask my mail guys they say "you must be using a different IP address" - but how could that be true?

Anybody else seen this?

Test email and Email Service Call are processed by the SD client, not the appserver.

So - what does that say about configuration of the mail relay box? It no longer just has to have the IP address(es) of the Server(s) - it has to have ALL CLIENT IP Addresses? Networks guys will love that?

If you intend to send e-mail messages from the Service Desk client then, yes.
